This Imperial Stout is a deep, indulgent exploration of dark grains and unique hop character. At its core, heavily roasted malts deliver a robust backbone of bittersweet dark chocolate and charred grain. The addition of Enigma hops provides a sophisticated counterpoint, layering subtle notes of red berry and a trace of black pepper over the dense malt profile. Viscous and jet-black, it offers a powerful intensity that reflects its 10% ABV without sacrificing a smooth, harmonious balance. It honors its Huddersfield roots with a straightforward yet complex interplay of roasty bitterness and dark fruit esters.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40). Pours with a dense, persistent deep tan head that leaves thick lacing on the glass. High viscosity is apparent in the form of slow-moving legs.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by rich roasted malt notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and slightly burnt grain. Low but distinct hop aroma features red currants and a hint of spicy pepper. Moderate esters suggesting dried plums and raisins blend with a noticeable but smooth alcohol presence.

Taste. Intense initial impression of bittersweet cocoa and charred toast. The mid-palate reveals red berry fruitiness and a gentle peppery spice from the hops. Firm bitterness balances a rich, malty sweetness. The finish is long and warming, transitioning from sweet chocolate to a clean, roasty dryness.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the beer's weight. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 10% ABV without being sharp.
