This collaborative Hazy IPA delivers a profound sensory experience driven by a heavy-handed Double Dry Hopping process. It features a sophisticated bouquet of New Zealand hop varieties, prominently showcasing the distinctive white grape and crushed gooseberry notes of Nelson Sauvin. Riwaka contributes an intense layer of sweet citrus and pungent grapefruit, while Strata adds depth with hints of passionfruit and summer berries. The mouthfeel is notably richly textured, a hallmark of the collaboration between Northern Monk and Wylam, resulting in a soft, pillowy sensation that carries the massive tropical fruit load across the palate with minimal bitterness and a smooth, clean finish.
Appearance. Deep straw to light gold (4-6 SRM). Opaque with a characteristic hazy shine, featuring a dense, meringue-like white head with exceptional retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by white wine, passionfruit, and sweet grapefruit. Substantial notes of tropical fruit and subtle strawberry emerge from the Strata hops. Background malt is neutral to lightly bready, lacking any caramel or toast character. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Explosive fruity hop flavors mirrors the aroma, leading with white grape, guava, and zesty citrus. The malt provides a soft, grainy foundation that supports the hop saturation. Perceived bitterness is moderate but restrained, preventing any harshness. The balance is decidedly hop-forward with an off-dry, juicy finish and a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, lush, and rounded texture. Carbonation is moderate. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but not sharp, contributing to a smooth, non-astringent experience.
