Northern Monk

This American IPA is a vibrant fruit bowl showcase, centered on the expressive interplay of Elani, Nelson Sauvin, and Mosaic hops. The profile opens with a concentrated burst of tropical and stone fruit, specifically highlighting the Elani hop's contributions of ripe pineapple, guava, white peach, and orange zest. Mosaic provides a bright citrus backbone of lime, while Nelson Sauvin adds a sophisticated layer of crushed white grape. The sensory experience is supported by a lean, grainy malt base that allows the high-intensity hop aromatics to remain the primary focus. It finishes crisp and decidedly bitter, with a clean fermentation character.

Appearance. Pours a medium gold with a slight, modern haze. It is topped by a persistent, medium-sized white head with excellent lacing and retention.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of pineapple, guava, and lime. Distinctive notes of white peach and orange zest are complemented by a vinous white grape character. Very low, clean, bready malt supports the hop profile without adding sweetness.

Taste. Initial impression is dominated by assertive hop flavors of tropical fruit and citrus. Mid-palate reveals white grape and stone fruit complexity. The bitterness is firm and clean, balanced by a light, grainy malt character. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, resinous and fruity aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture and no harshness. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a refreshing crispness. Alcohol warmth is very light and well-integrated at 5.3% ABV.
