Northern Monk FAITH IN MÖNCHSBIER // 10 YEARS OF FAITH // HOPFENWEISSE

This year’s Oktoberfest special combines IPA levels of dry hopping with elements of a classic German Weissbier. The outcome is a fully flavoured and richly textured transformation of our flagship Hazy Pale Ale that takes it straight to Bavaria. For the hops we’ve stuck with Faith's signature Citra and Mosaic combo. We've upped the wheat portion of the Faith’s recipe to over 50% alongside our super pale base barley malt and a touch of flaked oats, giving an even fuller mouthfeel that’s more in line with a wheat beer. Instead of our usual IPA yeast, we sourced a variety specifically associated with the German wheat beer style, which delivers prominent esters of clove, banana and pepper. The Hopfenweisse’s combination of rich texture and high levels of hopping could arguably be seen as a precursor to the NEIPAs we see today.
