This Tropical IPA delivers a lush, vacation-inspired profile, balancing a robust malt base with a saturated fruit character. Expect a vibrant fusion of sun-drenched pineapple and bright citrus, supported by velvety stone fruit and a distinct, creamy coconut finish. The slightly larger malt backbone provides a smooth, honeyed foundation that prevents the hop and fruit intensity from becoming sharp. True to Northern Monk’s modern style, the beer offers a soft, approachable bitterness and a clean fermentation profile, ensuring the tropical fruit adjuncts remain the centerpiece while maintaining the drinkability of a well-crafted American IPA.
Appearance. Hazy pale gold (4-6 SRM) with a dense, creamy white head that leaves persistent lacing. The appearance suggests a high degree of protein and fruit suspension.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by fresh pineapple and shredded coconut. Supporting notes of zesty lime, peach, and nectarine are present. A subtle, sweet bready malt scent underpins the tropical fruit, with very low clean fermentation esters and no harsh sulfur.
Taste. Initial burst of sweet pineapple and stone fruit, transitioning into a distinctive coconut mid-palate. Moderate hop bitterness provides balance without being aggressive. Malt flavors of biscuit and honeyed wheat emerge from the enhanced grain bill. The finish is smooth and tropical, with a lingering citrus zest and a clean, refreshing aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation enhances the fruity lift and provides a refreshing snap. Alcohol warmth is negligible, and astringency is very low despite the fruit additions.
