Belgian and French Ale 3.8 º
This Belgian Single is a bright, sessionable interpretation designed for coastal refreshment. It balances the classic spicy-fruity Belgian yeast character with a modern profile driven by Cashmere and Mosaic hops. These varieties introduce a tropical fruity goodness, reminiscent of mango and citrus, which complements a zippy sherbert complexity. While low in alcohol, the addition of oats layers up the body, providing a soft, smooth counterpoint to the style's high carbonation and dry finish. The result is a highly aromatic, hop-forward table beer that pairs a grainy-sweet malt foundation with a crisp, bitter, and refreshing character.
Appearance. Pale yellow to light gold (3-4 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent, billowy white head with characteristic lacing. Clarity is generally good to brilliant.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominated by a blend of spicy Belgian yeast phenols, like black pepper, and vibrant tropical hop notes of mango and berry from the Mosaic and Cashmere. A light, crackery, and grainy malt backdrop provides a clean foundation.
Taste. Initial impressions of honeyed biscuit and soft grain are quickly overtaken by tropical fruit flavors and a zippy, citrusy sherbet-like acidity. Hop bitterness is medium-high, leading into a crisp, very dry finish. The yeast-driven esters and spicy phenols linger alongside a pleasant herbal hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, enhanced by the creaminess of oats which prevents it from feeling thin despite the low alcohol content. Carbonation is high and somewhat prickly. Zero alcohol warmth.
