North Komeda is a vibrant and exceptionally drinkable American IPA that belies its sessionable strength. A heavy-hitting hop profile of Azacca, Rakau, and Mosaic Cryo delivers a punchy bouquet of zesty grapefruit, crushed pine, and exotic pink guava. On the palate, luscious notes of white peach and sweet nectarine are balanced by a refreshing, pithy dryness. The inclusion of oats provides a succulent, pillowy texture that softens the bitterness, leading into a crisp, clean finish. This light-bodied ale captures the intense fruit-forward character of its New World hops while maintaining a delicate, soft mouthfeel and high drinkability.
Appearance. Medium gold color (approximately 6 SRM) with a persistent, frothy white head and fine lacing. Displays a slight, attractive haze characteristic of its oat content and heavy whirlpool hopping.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit and resinous pine. Sweet tropical fruit notes of pink guava and nectarine emerge alongside a subtle, clean, grainy malt backbone with no detectable esters.
Taste. Initial impressions are hop-driven with flavors of white peach and stone fruit. Medium bitterness provides a refreshing, pithy counterpoint to the juicy hop character. The finish is dry and clean with lingering notes of grapefruit zest and supportive, grainy malt.
