North End Brewing Pilsner
North End Brewing Pilsner offers a modern Southern Hemisphere twist on the classic German Pils. Pouring a brilliant straw-gold with a dense, persistent white head, it leads with a vibrant bouquet of New Zealand hops, showcasing notes of white wine, crushed gooseberry, and tropical lime. Underneath, a clean base of Pilsner malt provides a delicate foundation of toasted crackers and honeyed grain. The palate is sharply defined by a firm, clean bitterness and a bone-dry finish. Effervescent carbonation enhances the crisp, minerally texture, making for a refreshing, aromatically-charged lager that balances traditional structure with contemporary fruit-forward hop character.
Appearance. Straw to deep yellow (3 SRM); brilliant clarity with a creamy, long-lasting white head and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high hop intensity featuring tropical fruit, passionfruit, and lime zest. Low grainy-sweet, doughy malt character with a light toasted cracker quality. Very clean fermentation profile with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial soft malt sweetness of white bread and crackers is quickly overtaken by a bold wave of New Zealand hop flavors, including gooseberry and citrus. Medium-high bitterness is firm but not harsh, leading to a crisp, bone-dry finish. Minerally, clean aftertaste with lingering hop resins.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation that creates a refreshing, stinging prickle on the tongue. No alcohol warmth; very clean and attenuated with a slight minerally sharpness.
