North End Brewing Beach Hoist
Beach Hoist is a vibrant cross-continental American IPA that marries the assertive, structural bitterness of the Pacific Northwest with the unique aromatic profile of NZ Hops. This collaboration-born ale pours a brilliant gold, releasing an intense bouquet of passionfruit, crushed gooseberries, and zesty lime typical of New Zealand varieties. A clean, grainy malt backbone supports the high hop intensity without cluttering the palate. The experience is defined by a firm, resinous bitterness that leads into a crisp, dry finish. It perfectly captures the spirit of a West Coast-style IPA while showcasing the distinctive, tropical-forward terroir of New Zealand’s finest hop harvest.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber with brilliant clarity. Displays a medium-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent tropical fruit, white grape, and citrus lime notes. A low, clean, crackery malt presence provides a neutral base, while fermentation remains very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Hop-forward and assertive. Initial flavors of tropical fruit and resinous pine transition into a medium-high to high bitterness. The malt flavor is low and grainy, acting as a clean foundation. The balance is decidedly bitter, finishing very dry and crisp with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at this strength.
