Pacific Magic captures the rugged essence of the Mendocino coast, delivering a strikingly pale, straw-colored American IPA that bridges the gap between a crisp Pilsner and a bold West Coast powerhouse. The aromatic profile is dominated by aggressive, resinous pine and bright citrus notes, evoking a fresh breeze across the Pacific. On the palate, a clean, lean malt backbone allows the intense hop bitterness to lead, finishing bone-dry and refreshingly sharp. It is a masterclass in balance, offering the high-impact hop saturation expected of the style while maintaining a light, effortless drinkability that belies its robust 6.8% strength.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold in color (6 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, bright white head featuring excellent persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit zest, resinous pine, and a hint of tropical fruit. Low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness supports the hops. Fermentation is very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrus and resinous hop flavor. High bitterness is firm but clean, never harsh. Malt flavor is low and cracker-like, providing just enough structure to support the hops. The finish is decidedly dry and crisp with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing bite. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present in the finish.
