Norm Brewing Hive Mind
Hive Mind is a vibrant collaboration between Norm Brewing and Hop Hooligans that showcases a double dry-hopped New Zealand profile within the American IPA framework. This 7% ale leads with an intense, sweet citrus punch driven by a concentrated blend of Motueka and Riwaka hops in both T90 and SubZero Hop Kief forms. Bright lime zest and tropical passion fruit dominate the senses, supported by a clean, lean malt base that allows the southern hemisphere hop character to remain the focal point. A crisp, moderately bitter finish ensures drinkability while emphasizing the intricate, resinous fruit notes of the specialized New Zealand cultivars.
Appearance. Medium gold color (SRM 7) with a slight haze from heavy dry-hopping. Features a medium-sized, white, persistent head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring dominant notes of crushed lime, lemon zest, and tropical passion fruit. Background hints of grapefruit and subtle resin emerge, supported by a very low, clean, grainy malt profile and a clean fermentation character.
Taste. Assertive hop-forward flavors of vivid lime, tropical fruit punch, and zesty citrus. The malt presence is low and crackery, providing structure for the firm, medium-high bitterness. It finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering, clean hop bitterness and an echo of sweet citrus oil.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but remains smooth without harshness.
