Inspired by the Finnish 'fox fire' aurora borealis, this Wild Specialty Beer offers a vibrant sensory journey. Nómada Revontulet presents a striking raspberry-forward profile that mimics a spiced red fruit tart. The aromatic intensity is driven by a heavy addition of raspberries, complemented by subtle spiced undertones reminiscent of forest floor and baked goods. On the palate, a bright, lactic acidity balances a nuanced bitterness, creating a refreshing yet complex interplay. This ale captures the essence of the Nordic landscape, blending the tartness of wild berries with a dry, clean finish that invites another sip.
Appearance. Displays a vivid rosy-pink to light crimson hue (6–9 SRM). Topped by a matte white, fine-beaded head with moderate retention and light lacing. Clarity is slightly hazy due to the heavy fruit addition and wild fermentation.
Aroma. High intensity aroma of fresh raspberries and red berry jam. Distinctive notes of a spiced tart, including hints of crust-like malt and subtle peppery phenols. A clean lactic sourness provides a sharp backdrop, with very low hop character and no diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is sharply acidic and fruit-forward. Intense raspberry and red currant flavors dominate, supported by a lean, crackery malt base. Hop bitterness is low but detectable, providing a structural counterpoint to the tartness. The finish is dry and crisp, with a lingering raspberry skin character and a clean, acidic aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A gentle alcohol warmth is present at 6.7% ABV. Slight fruit-derived tannin from the raspberries contributes a mild, pleasant astringency.
