This Double IPA presents as a potent fusion of tropical fruit and pungent hops. Intensely aromatic, it radiates high-intensity notes of fresh papaya and resinous pine that are detectable from a distance. The inclusion of rye provides a structured, spicy backbone that balances the luscious, fruit-forward sweetness. As the palate transitions, the initial tropical richness evolves into an aggressive, tongue-coating bitterness that characterizes the style's extreme hop profile. Despite the robust 9% alcohol and substantial mouthfeel, the finish remains remarkably drinkable, leaving a lingering trail of resin and exotic fruit, showcasing a masterful balance between heavy adjuncts and traditional hop intensity.
Appearance. Amber-colored and distinctly turbid; pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head and slight lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; dominant tropical papaya and dank resinous hops are at the forefront, supported by a spicy rye malt character and a clean, lightly sweet graininess with a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is a riot of sweet papaya and tropical fruit, followed immediately by spicy rye and complex resinous hop flavors. The bitterness is very high and assertive, leading to a lingering, hoppy aftertaste on a medium-dry finish.
