This New Zealand IPA presents a vibrant, southern-hemisphere take on the American IPA style. The sensory profile is defined by a punchy hop bouquet featuring Motueka, Wakatu, and Rakau. Bright aromas of lime zest and lemon oil from the Motueka and Wakatu lead into deeper layers of stone fruit and apricot contributed by Rakau. On the palate, the Motueka provides a distinctive citrus snap, while a lean, grainy malt base allows the Wakatu’s floral and spicy nuances to emerge. The experience concludes with a firm, clean bitterness and a crisp, dry finish that highlights lingering notes of peach and tropical resin.
Appearance. Color is medium gold (approximately 7 SRM). It features a medium-sized, white head with good persistence and fine lacing. Clarity is brilliant.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent lime, lemon, and tropical fruit. Specific notes of peach and apricot are supported by a low, clean, grainy malt sweetness. Fermentation profile is clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is decidedly hop-forward with flavors of lime zest, stone fruit, and light resin. Malt flavor is low and bready, providing a neutral platform for the hops. Bitterness is firm and medium-high, leading to a dry, clean finish. The aftertaste is hoppy and crisp, featuring lingering floral and citrus notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high. Alcohol warmth is light and very well-integrated. No perceptible astringency.
