This vibrant Session IPA showcases a tropical bouquet driven by the heavy-handed use of Citra and Galaxy hops. Bright aromas of passion fruit, peach, and juicy grapefruit leap from the glass, supported by a soft, bready malt foundation. On the palate, the interplay of citrus and stone fruit is balanced by a restrained bitterness that ensures high drinkability. Reflecting its New England influence, the mouthfeel is remarkably smooth despite its lower gravity, finishing crisp with a lingering essence of tropical zest. It captures the essence of a modern American IPA in a lighter, more refreshing frame, emphasizing hop aromatics over alcoholic strength.
Appearance. Pours a hazy, pale gold (4-6 SRM) with a thick, frothy white head that exhibits excellent persistence and leaves intricate lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of tropical fruit, specifically passion fruit and mango from the Galaxy hops, alongside distinct citrus notes of lime and grapefruit from the Citra. A clean, low grainy malt sweetness provides a subtle background, while the fermentation profile remains neutral and free of heavy esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy tropical and stone fruit flavors. The Citra provides sharp citrus and peach, while Galaxy contributes layers of pineapple and passion fruit. Malt character is low and bready, offering just enough support to prevent a thin profile. Bitterness is moderate but clean, leading into a dry, refreshing finish with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a soft, slightly creamy texture characteristic of the hazy substyle influence. Carbonation is moderate to moderate-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is absent, and the finish is devoid of any harshness or astringency.
