This Black Gose presents a striking sensory evolution of the historical style, melding deep, dark aesthetics with vibrant fruit. Intense aromas of fresh Raspberries and earthy Blueberries lead the profile, underpinned by a bright, lemony coriander spice and a hint of lactic tartness. On the palate, the doughy wheat base is transformed by a subtle dark malt roast, though the star remains the juicy berry medley. A signature touch of sea salt enhances the mouthfeel, providing a savory counterpoint to the fruit’s natural sweetness. This refreshing, highly carbonated ale finishes crisp and bone-dry, with a lingering, tangy berry brightness and a mouthwatering, effervescent quality.
Appearance. Deep ruby-black with a dark purple hue; opaque with a moderate to tall, pink-tinted head that shows good retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of fresh raspberries and jammy blueberries. Moderate lactic sourness provides a sharp edge, complemented by a light, citrusy coriander character and a subtle, clean sea salt breeze. No hop aroma or diacetyl.
Taste. Noticeable lactic acidity is immediate, followed by a moderate bready wheat malt flavor with a hint of toasted grain. The fruit character is pronounced, featuring tart raspberry and sweet blueberry notes. A light salt character is noticeable but integrated, enhancing the fruit. Bitterness is very low with no hop flavor. The finish is dry, clean, and acidic.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with high carbonation and an effervescent, tingly sensation on the tongue. The salt provides a slightly rounded, mouthwatering quality. No alcohol warmth or astringency despite the dark color.
