Nøgne Ø Upper Middle Class Oblivion is an assertive Double IPA that delivers a saturated tropical profile. Driven by a massive triple dry-hop addition of Enigma, Motueka, and Wai-iti, the sensory experience is dominated by lush stone fruit and citrus. Prominent notes of ripe peach and apricot intertwine with zesty lime and the distinctive vinous character of green grapes. Despite its substantial strength, the beer maintains a hop-forward focus over a soft, supportive malt base. This New England-inspired powerhouse offers a complex feast of Southern Hemisphere aromatics, finishing with a firm, integrated bitterness and a smooth, warming glow.
Appearance.Deep gold to light orange; hazy to opaque with a dense, persistent white head and significant lacing.
Aroma.High intensity; pungent tropical fruit and stone fruit (peach, apricot) alongside bright lime citrus and a white-wine grape character. Very low clean, bready malt background; noticeable but smooth alcohol.
Taste.Bold hop-forward flavors mirroring the aroma: juicy peach and apricot transition into sharp lime and green grape skins. High bitterness that is firm but rounded, avoiding harshness. Minimal caramel; soft, crackery malt supports the hops. Finishes medium-dry with a long, fruity, resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth without being solventy. Low astringency.
