Nøgne Ø Binge is a powerful and warming Oloroso sherry cask-matured Malt Liquor that reimagines the International Pale Lager framework through three years of barrel aging. At 14% ABV, it delivers an intense sensory experience of overripe pineapple and apricot, balanced by the deep dried fruit character of raisins and figs. The prolonged contact with oak introduces complex savory notes of leather, tobacco, and umami. This exceptionally strong lager remains clean in its fermentation profile but trades crispness for a luxurious, warming presence where the spirit-like qualities of the sherry casks define the aromatics and the lingering, sweet finish.
Appearance. Deep gold to copper (SRM 6–14). Thin, white head with low retention and minimal lacing due to high alcohol content. Brilliant clarity with visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Initial notes of rich Oloroso sherry and dried fruit, specifically raisin and fig. Secondary aromas of overripe pineapple and apricot. Clean fermentation profile with a low grainy-malty sweetness and no detectable hop aroma. Sophisticated aged notes of leather and tobacco.
Taste. Initial impression is powerfully sweet and malty. Malt flavor is robust and honey-like with overtones of apricot and dried figs. Low hop bitterness and no hop flavor. Fermentation is clean, allowing the Oloroso cask influences of umami and wood to dominate the mid-palate. Balance is decidedly malty and sweet. The finish is long, warming, and lingering with a persistent sherry-like sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Full, viscous body. Low carbonation. Significant alcohol warmth that is smooth and well-integrated rather than harsh. Creamy, coating texture with no hop-derived or wood-derived astringency.
