This New Zealand-influenced American IPA showcases a vibrant fusion of heritage grains and modern hops. The sensory journey begins with an intense bouquet of crushed lime and tropical fruit, driven by Motueka hops from Sunrise Valley. Beneath the hop intensity lies a unique, rustic foundation of nutty Bere Barley and bready Landrace wheat, providing a complex, grainy sweetness. The palate delivers a firm bitterness typical of the style, balanced by a soft, slightly creamy texture from the raw wheat. It finishes dry and crisp, with lingering notes of lemon zest and a subtle earthiness from the heritage malts.
Appearance. Medium gold (6-7 SRM) with a persistent, frothy white head and excellent lacing. The appearance is noticeably hazy due to the inclusion of raw wheat.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by lime zest, tropical fruit, and mojito-like citrus from the Motueka hops. A supporting nutty and grainy malt character from the Bere Barley is present, with very low fruity fermentation esters.
Taste. Leading with a medium-high hop flavor of citrus and tropical fruit. Low but complex grainy maltiness follows, featuring toasted bread and earthy notes. Bitterness is firm and medium-high, leading into a dry, clean finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture from the raw wheat. Carbonation is moderate-high. No perceptible alcohol warmth or harshness.
