This collaboration German Helles Exportbier presents a sophisticated balance between robust malt structure and firm hop presence. Utilizing Heidelberg and Vienna malts, it offers a deeply toasted, bready foundation with a hint of honeyed sweetness. The addition of Tettnang hops provides a classic noble character, contributing layers of spicy dried herbs and subtle floral notes that cut through the malt richness. At 5.6% ABV, the body is satisfyingly full yet maintains a crisp, flinty finish indicative of the Dortmunder style. It is a clean, expertly lagered beer where the smooth mouthfeel and moderate bitterness coalesce into a refreshing, yet substantial, European lager experience.
Appearance. Pours a deep, brilliant gold (approximately 5 SRM) with excellent clarity. It is topped by a dense, persistent white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a grainy-sweet malt profile with distinct notes of toasted bread and light dough. The hop character is medium-low, presenting classic Tettnang attributes of dried flowers, noble spice, and herbal earthiness. The fermentation profile is exceptionally clean.
Taste. The initial impression is one of balanced malt richness and firm bitterness. Flavors of toasted grain and bread crust from the Vienna malt are countered by a spicy, herbal hop presence. The bitterness is medium and supportive, leading to a medium-dry finish with a characteristic mineral-like roundness. The aftertaste lingers briefly with clean malt and a flinty sharpness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, mellow texture on the palate. Carbonation is moderate, providing a gentle prickle that enhances the dry finish. There is a very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth consistent with its 5.6% strength.
