Imperial IPA 8 º
Double Fragment is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases the lush, tropical potential of its Mosaic and Citra hop profile. Brewed with a heavy hand of flaked and malted wheat, the beer delivers a soft, pillowy texture that carries intense notes of freshly cut mango and thick guava nectar. The primary Mosaic influence radiates with layers of passionfruit and sweet berries, while a touch of Citra provides a bright, balancing citrus snap of orange zest. Despite its robust strength, the beer remains exceptionally drinkable, finishing with a clean, supportive graininess and a refined bitterness that invites another sip.
Appearance. Deep gold with a slight, persistent haze from the wheat additions. Features a moderate-sized, creamy white head that displays excellent retention and leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit notes of passionfruit, guava, and mango, supported by bright orange citrus. A clean, neutral, and slightly grainy malt presence from the flaked wheat provides a subtle background, while the fermentation profile remains clean with very light esters.
Taste. Initial impression of strong and complex hop flavors including freshly cut mango, guava nectar, and tangy passionfruit, accented by sweet orange. A soft, supportive malt character from the wheat provides a clean base without caramel or toast. Bitterness is moderately high but well-integrated and smooth, leading to a medium-dry finish with a lingering tropical and citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture enhanced by the protein content of the flaked wheat. Carbonation is medium-high. A light, restrained alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no perceived hop-derived astringency.
