This Double IPA presents a vivid sensory experience, leaning into its name with a soft, saturated hop profile. Utilizing a grist of white wheat malt, flaked wheat, and flaked oats, the beer offers a luxurious, velvety foundation that carries an intense saturation of American hops. Expect a citrus creamsicle character where bright orange and tangerine notes meld with a soft, rounded fruitiness. The high hop intensity delivers layers of tropical fruit and pithy citrus, balanced by a clean, supporting malt graininess. While staying true to the Double IPA style, it prioritizes a plush texture and a vibrant, fruit-forward expression that remains remarkably smooth.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (7-9 SRM). Opaque and hazy due to the heavy use of white wheat and flaked oats. Features a thick, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by sweet citrus, tangerine, and soft tropical fruit. A supporting neutral, bready, and grainy malt character from the wheat is present in the background. Clean fermentation profile with a very light, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrus and stone fruit. Firm bitterness is present but softened by the creamy wheat-driven malt profile. Flavors of orange zest and melon are prominent. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, smooth hop resin and minimal harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a distinctively fluffy and creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. A soft, restrained alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth, lacking any grain or hop-derived astringency.
