This American IPA is a vibrant, hop-forward collaboration showcasing a snappy citrus and resinous profile. A heavy-handed addition of Simcoe, Amarillo, and Centennial hops drives the sensory experience, bursting with zesty grapefruit, floral undertones, and a classic piney backbone. The malt character remains lean and supportive, allowing the high-intensity hop oils to dominate the palate. It drinks with a refreshing, snappy bitterness that cleanses the finish, embodying the classic West Coast-inspired character of bright citrus zest and forest resins. This medium-bodied ale balances its assertive hop bitterness with a clean fermentation profile and a crisp, drying finish.
Appearance. Pours a brilliant deep gold to light amber (SRM 8-10) with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves intricate lacing. Clarity is high with no significant haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of fresh grapefruit, orange zest, and floral blossoms. Simcoe contributes a secondary layer of pine resin and light earthiness. Low, clean, grainy malt sweetness supports the hops without competing. Fermentation is clean with no noticeable esters.
Taste. Initial flavors of grapefruit and citrus rind lead into a firm, assertive hop bitterness. Hop flavors of pine and resin from Simcoe and floral notes from Centennial are prominent. Low bready and slightly toasty malt notes provide a light backbone. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, clean, bitter aftertaste and no harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high, creating a refreshing mouthfeel. A very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
