This Imperial Stout is a monolithic collaboration between Nerdbrewing and Emperor’s Brewery, delivering an immense sensory experience defined by high-gravity indulgence. A massive foundation of roasted grain and bittersweet chocolate is elevated by the addition of dark forest honey, which imparts a complex, earthy floral sweetness. The profile is further enriched by a heavy infusion of toasted coconut, offering nutty, macaroon-like aromatics that soften the intense roast. At 13.3% ABV, it presents significant warmth and a viscous, chewy texture, culminating in a harmonious balance of burnt sugar, dark fruit, and decadent, tropical richness.
Appearance. SRM 40+; jet black and completely opaque. Pours with a thick, deep tan head that shows moderate retention and leaves significant oily legs on the glass, indicative of its high alcohol content and coconut oils.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant notes of toasted coconut and vanilla blend with rich espresso and bittersweet chocolate. The dark forest honey adds a subtle wildflower and balsamic depth, supported by esters of black currant and prune. Clean but potent alcohol presence.
Taste. An initial explosion of bittersweet cocoa and charred malt, followed quickly by the creamy, nutty flavor of toasted coconut. The dark forest honey provides a lingering, complex sweetness that counters the aggressive roast bitterness. The finish is long and warming with a vinous quality and notes of molasses and dried figs.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied; extremely viscous and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Alcohol warmth is prominent and smooth. Low to moderate carbonation complements the beer’s massive weight.
