River Drifter is a vibrant American Pale Ale that showcases a modern, expressive hop profile. Brimming with New Zealand influence, it delivers a punchy bouquet of stone fruit and soft tropical notes. The addition of Nectaron provides ripe peach and nectarine depth, while Motueka contributes a zesty lime sparkle. Nelson Sauvin rounds out the experience with its signature crushed gooseberry and white wine character. Despite its sessionable strength, the beer presents a hazy, luminous body with a pillowy texture. It balances bright, fruit-forward intensity with a clean, supportive malt base, resulting in a refreshing and highly drinkable pale ale.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (4-6 SRM). Large, white, creamy head with good retention and light lacing. Distinctive haze with a luminous quality.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent tropical fruit, mango, and stone fruit aromas like peach and apricot from Nectaron. Zesty lime and citrus notes from Motueka are present, alongside a subtle crushed grape and gooseberry character from Nelson Sauvin. Very low, neutral, grainy-sweet maltiness supports the hops with minimal fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial juicy impact of nectarine and peach, followed by waves of tropical fruit. Hop flavors include mojito-like lime and a touch of dry white wine. Low, clean, bready malt provides a supportive background. Moderate bitterness that does not overwhelm the fruit character. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with lingering notes of tropical fruit and citrus.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a soft, slightly pillowy texture typical of hazy styles. Moderate carbonation. Smooth finish with no alcohol warmth and no detectable astringency.
