JAN is a robust Foreign Extra Stout that masterfully integrates specialty Yellow Bourbon coffee into a dark, traditional framework. The sensory experience is defined by intense notes of dark chocolate and espresso, supported by a rich, medium-full body. Subtle earthy hop notes linger in the background, while the high 20° Plato starting gravity provides a substantial, smooth mouthfeel. Appearance. Very deep brown to opaque black; large, dense tan head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity roast with prominent espresso and dark chocolate notes; the Yellow Bourbon coffee contributes a nutty and slightly fruity aromatic layer. Low earthy hops and a subtle, clean alcohol warmth are present.
Taste. Strong initial roast impression of bitter cocoa and roasted coffee beans. Medium-high bitterness is well-balanced by a faint molasses sweetness. The finish is moderately dry with lingering notes of lightly burnt grain and earthy hops, free of acrid harshness.
