This Hazy IPA offers a lush, tropical experience driven by a complex grain bill of malted rye and oats, softened by lactose. The aroma is a vivid piña colada bouquet, blending fresh pineapple purée with the citrus-forward profiles of Citra, Simcoe, and Motueka hops. A massive double dry-hop of Vic Secret and Citra amplifies the tropical smoothie sensation, while Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans provide a creamy undercurrent. On the palate, it balances bright fruit acidity with a velvety, dreamy finish. It is a decadent, dessert-like take on the style that emphasizes juice-like saturation over bitterness.
Appearance. 4-6 SRM. Deep straw to golden-orange with an opaque, hazy shine. Dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant tropical fruit notes of ripe pineapple and coconut-like piña colada. The hop character is intensely fruity with lime, passionfruit, and grapefruit. Background malt is bready and sweet with a distinct vanilla bean creaminess. Low spicy rye note; no caramel or toast.
Taste. Initial impression of sweet tropical fruit smoothie. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma’s pineapple and citrus. Low to moderate bitterness provides balance against the residual sweetness of the lactose and vanilla. Malt flavor is lightly bready and grainy. The finish is smooth, lingering, and fruit-forward without any harshness or hop burn.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation. Subtle alcohol warmth. Creamy and smooth due to oats and lactose; no astringency.
