Naparbier Overdose presents a decadent sensory experience inspired by Black Forest Gateaux. This American Stout leads with an indulgent aromatic profile of rich dark chocolate, driven by the heavy use of Chocolate malt, complemented by the sweet, creamy perfume of Madagascar-style vanilla. The addition of sour cherries provides a bright, tart counterpoint that cuts through the residual sweetness of the added milk sugar. On the palate, the roast character is smooth rather than acrid, blending seamlessly with the fruit's acidity. At 7% ABV, the alcohol is expertly integrated, supporting a sticky, dessert-like finish that lingers with notes of cocoa and dark stone fruit.
Appearance. Deep jet black and completely opaque (35-40 SRM). Pours with a thick, persistent, light-tan head that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by dark chocolate and roasted grain. Strong notes of sweet vanilla and tart red cherries are prominent. Low earthy hop character and moderate creamy sweetness from lactose. No harsh acrid or burnt notes.
Taste. Initial impression is sweet and creamy, followed by a wave of bittersweet chocolate and roasted coffee. The mid-palate features a sharp, clean acidity from the sour cherries which provides balance. Hop bitterness is moderate but partially masked by the milk sugar. Finish is long and sweet with lingering vanilla and cocoa, avoiding any burnt astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a noticeably creamy, coating texture. Carbonation is moderate. Displays a smooth, gentle alcohol warmth without any fusel heat or harshness.
