This Double IPA offers a contemporary evolution of the West Coast style, balancing significant strength with a refined, modern bitterness. The aromatic profile is dominated by a vibrant bouquet of Cascade and Simcoe, delivering classic notes of grapefruit zest and resinous pine. These are elevated by the addition of CRYO Loral, which introduces nuanced floral and herbal layers alongside a bright citrus pop. The malt remains lean and supportive, allowing the hop character to shine through a clean, dry finish. At 8% alcohol, the warmth is present but exceptionally well-integrated, providing a smooth drinking experience that prioritizes hop saturation over aggressive palate-crushing bitterness.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (approx. 7-9 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a moderate, persistent off-white head that leaves delicate lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent grapefruit and citrus from Cascade, coupled with the resinous, woody, and slightly tropical passionfruit character of Simcoe. Distinctive floral and sweet herbal accents from the CRYO Loral addition. Background malt is neutral and grainy-sweet, while the fermentation profile is clean with very low fruity esters.

Taste. An initial hop-forward impression of citrus peel, pine needles, and a subtle floral spice. Malt flavor is low, providing a clean, cracker-like foundation. Bitterness is moderately high but smooth and lacks harshness, aligning with a more modern interpretation of the style. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, clean hop resin and citrus aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from high hop oil content. Medium-high carbonation provides a crisp, refreshing bite. A gentle, restrained alcohol warmth is present, commensurate with its 8% ABV, without any solventy or hot edges.

Naparbier – Hellfire. La crisis económica de 2008 fue la causante de que cuatro compañeros de trabajo de la fábrica navarra de electrodomésticos Koxka unieran sus destinos. Juan, Josu, Pepe y Txerra se vieron en la calle con un ERE a principios del 2009. Con el dinero de la indemnización caliente en sus bolsillos y un panorama económico por delante no muy halagüeño decidieron saltar al vacío. Así nació Naparbier, asociándose como una cooperativa. De unos inicios en los que el objetivo era colarse en las barras de la hostelería navarra e intentar hacerse hueco a codazos entre los gigantes industriales, actualmente Naparbier se encuentra en la vanguardia europea de cervezas modernas y lupuladas. En esta ocasión juegan con darle una vuelta de tuerca más a las clásicas IPAs de la Costa Oeste. Para ello bajan ligeramente el amargor de Naparbier – Hellfire y le dan un perfil de lúpulos más actual (Cascade, Simcoe, Citra Comet y CRYO Loral). En conjunto hacen que esta Modern West Coast DIPA de 8% sea una opción perfecta tanto para los amantes de las IPAs clásicas, como de los zumeques modernos.
