Naparbier

Naparbier Black Rock is a commanding American Porter that pushes the boundaries of the style with an intense sensory profile. Built on a foundational blend of Maris Otter and Munich malts, it delivers a deeply roasted character complemented by the inclusion of oats for a luxurious texture. The aromatic profile is dominated by fresh-ground coffee and bittersweet cacao, accented by the resinous and citrusy punch of Columbus and Amarillo hops. On the palate, the beer is silky and rich, featuring prominent notes of licorice and Roasted Barley. Despite its high 9% ABV, the finish is smooth with a firm, integrated bitterness that lingers cleanly.

Appearance. Opaque black (40+ SRM) with a thick, persistent beige head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves dense lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Strong aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate are primary, supported by a resinous, slightly earthy hop character and a hint of citrus. A malty richness with subtle caramel sweetness is present, lacking any sharp or acrid burnt notes.

Taste. Initial roasted malt flavors of coffee and dark chocolate lead into a complex middle of black licorice. High bitterness (85 IBU) is provided by both the hops and roasted grains, yet it remains smooth rather than harsh. The finish is medium-dry and lingering, with a clean, roasted aftertaste and faint citrus hop notes.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a creamy, silky mouthfeel attributed to the use of oats. Moderate carbonation. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its strength.
