Naparbier’s Black Christmas is a powerful Belgian Dark Strong Ale that masterfully integrates festive seasonings with a robust malt backbone. This holiday offering presents a deep, complex bouquet of dark caramel and toasted bread, accented by a generous addition of candy sugar which lightens the body while deepening the character. The sensory profile is defined by a distinctive trio of holiday spices: the peppery warmth of Allspice, the pungent depth of Clove, and the earthy sweetness of Nutmeg. These botanical additions complement the natural dark fruit esters of plum and raisin, leading into a warming, smooth finish that hides its significant strength behind a tapestry of winter flavors.
Appearance. Deep coppery-brown to dark mahogany (approx. 18–22 SRM) with excellent clarity. It is topped by a huge, dense, and persistent light tan moussy head that leaves intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity and complex. A base of rich, bready-toasty malt and dark caramel is layered with potent spicy phenols. The specific additions of Allspice and Nutmeg provide a peppery and woody character, while Clove notes are prominent.
