Nao La Gloria reimagines the historical "Champagne of the North" as a vibrant, island-inspired Berliner Weisse. This low-alcohol refresher leads with a sharp, clean lactic acidity that beautifully balances a unique base of local Canary Island grains. While traditional versions often eschew hop character, the deliberate use of American hops introduces an exotic layer of tropical fruit and citrus aromas that complement the style’s inherent tartness. Effervescent and bone-dry, it delivers a crisp sourdough breadiness followed by a wave of lemon and stone fruit, finishing with a brisk, refreshing snap that makes it ideal for a warm maritime climate.
Appearance. Straw to very pale gold (2-3 SRM) with a large, dense white head that dissipates quickly. Highly effervescent with slight haze from the local grain and wheat proteins.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity dominated by a sharply sour lactic character. A distinct exotic fruitiness from American hops provides notes of citrus and tropical fruit, layered over a base of raw bread dough and sourdough wheat.
Taste. A clean, dominant lactic sourness provides the primary balance, as hop bitterness is undetectable. A light, doughy wheat and grainy malt flavor from the local cereals supports the tartness. The finish is very dry and crisp, featuring lingering notes of tart lemon and stone fruit with no hop bitterness or harshness.
Mouthfeel. Light body with a very high, spritzy carbonation level. No sensation of alcohol warmth is present; the mouthfeel is defined by a crisp, refreshing acidity and a clean, puckering finish.
