Nao Black Patrón is a refined Black IPA that balances the aggressive hop character of an American IPA with the sleek, dark elegance of debittered malts. It presents a prominent hop profile leaning into resinous pine and tropical citrus, supported by subtle notes of cold-brew coffee and dark cocoa. Despite its midnight hue, the palate remains remarkably dry and highly drinkable, avoiding the heavy, burnt astringency often found in stouts. The finish is crisp and bitter, showcasing a clean fermentation that allows the interplay of roasted grains and vibrant New World hops to shine through with sophisticated persistence and moderate warmth.
Appearance. Deep ebony to black (35–40 SRM) and opaque, though clear when held to light. Features a persistent, dense, tan-colored head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring resinous pine, grapefruit zest, and a hint of tropical fruit. The malt character is restrained and clean, offering subtle hints of toast, light chocolate, and dark bread crust without acrid or burnt notes.
Taste. Initial punch of high hop bitterness followed by flavors of citrus peel and resin.
