This Hazy IPA showcases the unique terroir of the Pacific Northwest through a focused collaboration featuring the experimental hop WCHB-102. It pours with a signature opaque glow, releasing an intense bouquet of bright citrus and soft orchard fruit. The nose is dominated by fresh lemon and crisp pear, accented by a sharp hit of lime zest. On the palate, the hop-forward profile remains juicy and vibrant without harsh bitterness, supported by a soft, pillowy malt base. It is a modern expression of the style, balancing a smooth, medium-full mouthfeel with a refreshing, fruit-driven finish that highlights innovative hop breeding from Oregon.
Appearance. Straw to light gold with a deep, opaque haze and a luminous shine. Topped by a dense, meringue-like white head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of zesty lemon, ripe pear, and fragrant lime zest. Supporting these are subtle hints of tropical fruit and a clean, lightly bready malt background. Fermentation esters are fruity and well-integrated.
Taste. Massively hop-forward with flavors of citrus zest and soft orchard fruit mirroring the aroma. Low to medium-high perceived bitterness that feels smooth rather than sharp. The malt provides a neutral, grainy backbone that allows the WCHB-102 hops to shine. The finish is off-dry and juicy with a lingering lime and pear aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth and soft texture. Carbonation is moderate, enhancing the juicy sensation. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth, with no astringency or hop burn.
