Monarque is a modern American IPA that showcases a lean, 100% Pilsner malt base, providing a crisp, crackery canvas for its potent hop profile. The use of Citra and Strata hops delivers an explosion of tropical fruit, passion fruit, and citrus, while the addition of Anchovy hops introduces a unique depth with subtle resinous and berry-like nuances. Brilliantly clear and light-bodied, this West Coast-inspired ale emphasizes high drinkability and aromatic intensity. Its restrained malt character allows the hop oils to shine, culminating in a clean, refreshing finish with a persistent but smooth bitterness that defines the contemporary style.
Appearance. Medium gold to pale yellow (approx 5 SRM). Brilliantly clear with a medium-sized, long-lasting white head and excellent lacing.
Aroma. High aromatic intensity featuring prominent tropical fruit, passion fruit, and bright citrus. Secondary notes of pine and light resin are present, supported by a very low, clean, grainy malt character. Fermentation profile is neutral and clean.
Taste. The initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of grapefruit, melon, and subtle pine. Low grainy-sweet malt flavor provides a brief support before a medium-high bitterness takes over. The fermentation is clean, leading to a very dry, crisp finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste and no harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate-high carbonation. Alcohol presence is very light and well-integrated, providing no significant heat.
