The nose is greeted by an intense bouquet of Sauvignon Blanc grapes, crushed gooseberries, and bright lime zest. A silky, soft mouthfeel provides a luxurious stage for layers of ripe stone fruits—specifically apricots and peaches—balancing the assertive hop saturation. While the strength is evident at 8%, the alcohol remains well-integrated, supporting a clean, grain-neutral malt base. The finish is remarkably smooth for its intensity, leaving a lingering trail of tropical fruit and refined, citrus-driven bitterness.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (6–8 SRM) with a heavy, opaque haze. Features a thick, creamy, off-white head with excellent persistence and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of white wine grapes and gooseberry from Nelson Sauvin, alongside apricot and lime zest from Rakau. A soft, grainy, wheat-like malt character sits in the background, complemented by light fruity esters of pear and peach. No solventy alcohol is present.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and stone fruits. Hop flavors are complex, showcasing white currant, lime, and peach. Bitterness is moderate—lower than a traditional West Coast version but firm enough to balance the malt. The malt profile is clean and soft, providing a supportive but unobtrusive foundation. It finishes medium-dry with a lingering fruity character and no harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a distinctly silky, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-restrained alcohol warmth is present but smooth. No hop-derived astringency is perceived despite the high hopping rate.
