Nano Cinco Gopher Snake is a lush and contemporary Double IPA that showcases an innovative hop profile. As the first Canadian brewery to utilize the D5-055 cultivar from Segal Ranch, this beer delivers an explosive sensory experience characterized by intense tropical fruit notes of mango and guava. The addition of Zumo hops introduces a sharp citrus brightness, while the Anchovy variety contributes unique hints of watermelon and pine. Together, these elements create a complex, fruit-forward profile that masks its 8% ABV with ease. The malt backbone remains soft and supportive, allowing the high-impact hop oils to dominate from the first aromatic whiff to the smooth, juicy finish.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange; opaque with a heavy haze. Features a thick, persistent white head that leaves dense, sticky lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a dominant tropical fruit character. Powerful notes of mango, papaya, and lime zest from the Zumo and D5-055 hops, complemented by a subtle melon-like sweetness. Malt is low and neutral, presenting as light bready dough.
Taste. Initial impression is a saturated wave of tropical fruit punch and citrus. Hop flavors of guava and candy-like fruit dominate, courtesy of the Segal Ranch D5-055 and Anchovy hops. Bitterness is moderate and smooth, lacking any harsh edge. The finish is juicy and off-dry with a lingering essence of tropical fruit skin and soft grain.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth mouth-coating sensation. Provides a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth that enhances the beer's substantial presence.
