This formidable Double IPA delivers an explosive sensory experience driven by a sophisticated blend of Peacharine, Nelson Sauvin, and Motueka SubZero Hop Kief. The addition of ID-158 "Pink" amplifies the aromatic profile, offering vivid notes of sun-ripened nectarine, white grape, and zesty citrus. Despite its 11% ABV strength, the palate is exceptionally smooth with a velvety, silk-like texture that masks the alcohol presence. A restrained, neutral malt base allows the wine-like Sauvignon Blanc character and tropical stone fruit to dominate, culminating in a powerful yet remarkably balanced finish that belies its substantial potency and intricate hop layers.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-10 SRM) with a dense, opaque haze. Features a thick, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intensity is high, dominated by prominent Sauvignon Blanc grape, crushed gooseberry, and ripe nectarine. Secondary hop notes of lime zest and passion fruit are supported by a clean, neutral, grainy malt background. No solventy alcohol; fermentation is clean.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical stone fruit. Strong hop flavors of nectarine and white wine grape follow. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but smooth, lacking harshness. The malt character is soft and unobtrusive, providing a clean base for a medium-dry finish with a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied with a luxurious, velvety, and creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, providing a gentle glow without astringency.
