Coquillage is a vibrant Hazy IPA that serves as a masterclass in New Zealand terroir, featuring a complex hop bill of Nelson Sauvin, Manilita, Superdelic, and Pacifica. The experience is led by a striking Sauvignon Blanc character and zesty grapefruit, evolving into a lush profile of tropical fruits. While the Nelson Sauvin provides its signature gooseberry and white wine elegance, the addition of Pacifica introduces nuanced floral and spicy undertones reminiscent of noble hops, alongside a bright lemon finish. This Hazy IPA balances its intense fruit-forward nature with a soft, pillowy texture, offering a multidimensional explosion of southern hemisphere flavors.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold (4 SRM); opaque with a soft, hazy shine; thick, meringue-like white head with persistent lacing and high retention.
Aroma. High intensity aromatic profile dominated by tropical fruit and crushed white grapes. Pronounced grapefruit and lemon citrus notes are accented by a delicate floral and spicy hop character. Low bready and grainy malt presence in the background; clean fermentation with subtle fruity esters that complement the hop-forward bouquet.
Taste. High fruit hop flavor led by tropical notes and white wine, followed by sharp grapefruit and lemon. The Pacifica hops contribute a unique spicy and floral complexity. Low bready malt sweetness provides a supportive base. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as low due to the soft, rounded mouthfeel. Finishes juicy and clean with a lingering note of citrus and gooseberry.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy, and smooth texture. Medium carbonation enhances the fruity vibrancy without being prickly. Subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth; no harshness or astringency.
