This Hazy IPA presents a vibrant tropical profile, characterized by its opaque, glowing appearance and a remarkably silky body. The aromatic intensity is driven by a sophisticated hop blend, where the experimental ID-158 (Pink) variety provides deep layers of passion fruit and guava. New Zealand’s Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops add a distinct complexity, contributing notes of white grape, gooseberry, and fresh lime zest. A subtle, honey-like malt undertone provides a balanced foundation for the expressive fruit character. The result is a lush, juice-forward experience with a soft bitterness and a smooth, lingering finish that epitomizes the modern New England-style approach.
Appearance. Straw to light golden in color (4-6 SRM) with a distinctive opaque haze that provides a bright shine. Features a dense, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High-intensity hop aroma featuring dominant tropical notes of guava, passion fruit, and crushed gooseberry. Subtle citrus lime and a vinous white-grape quality are present, supported by a lightly bready, grainy malt character with a hint of honey-like sweetness. Esters are fruity and well-integrated.
Taste. Explosive tropical fruit flavors of passion fruit and guava lead the palate, followed by citrusy Motueka character. The malt provides a bready, soft base with a touch of honey sweetness. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as soft and rounded, never harsh. The finish is off-dry and fruit-laden with a clean fermentation profile.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a silky, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth mouthfeel. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any astringency or raw starch graininess.
