Calathea presents as a luscious Double New England IPA that bridges the intensity of a Double IPA with modern, soft textures. The aromatic profile is dominated by a heavy saturation of peach and stone fruit, driven by the experimental ADHA-1624 and HBC-1019 hop varieties. Idaho 7 adds a layer of tropical depth and a subtle resinous counterpoint to the aroma. On the palate, the experience is notably silky and soft, masking its 7.8% strength with a refined, rounded bitterness. The malt remains supportive and neutral, allowing the complex, fruit-forward hop character to lead into a clean, lingering finish that balances intensity with high drinkability.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7–9 SRM). Opaque with a heavy, uniform haze. Topped by a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma. Prominent stone fruit notes of ripe peach and apricot are at the forefront, complemented by tropical pineapple and mango. A light, clean, bready malt background provides a neutral foundation, while a subtle piney resin adds complexity.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of sweet peach and tropical fruit flavor. The mid-palate reveals a soft, grainy malt character. Bitterness is moderately firm but rounded and smooth, lacking any harshness. Hop flavors of resin and citrus pith are secondary to the dominant stone fruit. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, fruit-focused aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a distinctively silky, creamy texture and soft mouthfeel. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but remains smooth. No hop-derived astringency.
