Appearance. Opaque, jet black with deep mahogany highlights. Topped by a dense, persistent, and creamy white head with excellent lacing. Slight sediment present due to bottle conditioning.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of roasted grain, featuring coffee and dark cocoa. Notable presence of licorice and a subtle resinous hop character. Light fruity esters and a touch of bready malt sweetness.
Taste. Initial impression of sharp roasted malt, followed by rich dark chocolate and a prominent licorice flavor. The Munich malt base adds a toasted depth, while the wheat provides a smooth graininess. Energetic bitterness is firm and well-integrated. Finish is dry with a lingering roasted and resinous aftertaste.
