This Belgian Dubbel from Munich Brew Mafia presents a striking visual and sensory depth. The malt profile is exceptionally rich, leaning into nutty and biscuit notes with a light toasted edge. Distinctive berry-like esters mingle with the earthy, spicy character of Willamette hops, creating a complex, dessert-like bouquet. On the palate, a delicate fruit acidity cuts through the malty sweetness, providing a surprising balance to its full-bodied nature. Appearance. Deep reddish-copper with mahogany highlights (15-17 SRM). Topped by a large, dense, creamy off-white head with excellent persistence and fine lacing. Generally clear.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Rich, bready malt with specific notes of toasted biscuit and hazelnut. Prominent berry-like esters alongside classic dried plum and raisin. Subtle peppery phenols and a low herbal, floral spice from Willamette hops.
Taste. Initial impression of sweet, complex malt featuring caramelized sugar and nutty depth. Flavors of dark fruit and berries are balanced by a faint, refreshing fruit-driven acidity. Medium-low bitterness (~20 IBU) provides just enough structure. The finish is moderately dry with a lingering aftertaste of toasted grain and spicy yeast.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, smooth, and creamy body. Moderately high carbonation provides a lively, scrubbing texture. Notable but smooth alcohol warmth reflecting its 8% strength, without being hot or solventy. No astringency.
