Wayfarer presents as a vibrant American IPA with a distinct New Zealand soul. A stripped-back malt base creates a lean canvas for a massive hop bouquet. Bold aromatics of passionfruit and fresh lime zest emerge from the use of Rakau and Motueka, while Southern Cross provides an underlying dank citrus depth. The addition of Nelson Sauvin Hop Kief intensifies the profile with signature crushed gooseberry and tropical pineapple notes. Thanks to a clean lager fermentation, the palate is exceptionally crisp, delivering a punchy, resinous bitterness and a snappy, dry finish that emphasizes pure hop expression over malt sweetness.
Appearance. Medium gold (7 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a persistent, frothy white head and excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passionfruit, pineapple, and lime zest. A resinous, dank quality persists alongside very low, clean, grainy maltiness. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. High hop flavor echoing the aroma's tropical fruit and citrus zest. Firm, assertive bitterness (approx. 60 IBU) is balanced by a very low, neutral malt sweetness. The finish is decidedly dry and snappy, leaving a lingering aftertaste of resin and tropical hops.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate-high carbonation. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth with no harshness or astringency.
