The aroma is led by punchy citrus notes of lemon and lime zest, driven by the combination of Motueka and Pacifica hops. An experimental addition of NZH 111 provides a delicate layer of floral and herbal complexity, harmonizing with the bold fruit character. This American Pale Ale variant is exceptionally clean and balanced, offering a snappy bitterness that fades into a dry, zesty finish. It is a modern, hop-forward expression of Aotearoa’s unique terroir, emphasizing aromatic brightness and high drinkability.
Appearance. Pale golden (SRM 5-6) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderately large, frothy white head that shows good retention and leaves light lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity featuring distinct lime peel, lemon zest, and a hint of orange marmalade. Low grainy-sweet malt aroma provides a clean backdrop. Sublte floral and spicy herbal notes emerge as the beer warms, with a very clean fermentation profile and minimal esters.
Taste. Bright citrus flavors of lime and lemon dominate the initial palate, followed by a light crackery malt sweetness. Hop bitterness is moderate and well-integrated, providing a firm but smooth structure. The mid-palate reveals subtle herbal and wildflower notes. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering, refreshing citrus oil aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate-high carbonation that provides a crisp, tongue-tingling sensation. Overall very smooth with no alcohol warmth or hop astringency.
