Appearance. Jet black color (SRM 35-40). Large, persistent head of light tan to light brown color with excellent lacing. The liquid is completely opaque.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity roast aroma characterized by dark chocolate and roasted coffee. Specific notes of toasted hazelnut and sutil caramel are evident. Medium-low hop aroma with citrusy and resinous qualities. Very low fruity esters; fermentation is clean with no sharp acridity.

Taste. Initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and toasted nuts. Moderate malt sweetness provides flavors of rich caramel. Hop bitterness is firm and medium-high, balanced by the roast. Low hop flavor with citrus and resin notes. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering, smooth roasted quality and a hint of hazelnut. Clean fermentation character.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high. Light alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated. Very low roast-derived astringency.
