Moor PMA
Moor PMA delivers a vibrant sensory experience that bridges British malt heritage with modern hop intensity. Evoking the deep gold color of mango, this American Pale Ale bursts with a high-intensity aroma of tropical fruit and citrus derived from a selection of global hops. A complex foundation of British toasted malts provides a sturdy, bready backbone that balances the firm bitterness. The palate is clean and incredibly drinkable, showcasing a harmonious interplay between stone fruit sweetness and a crisp, lingering hop finish. Appearance. Deep gold to light amber with a slight, natural haze. Topped by a moderately large, creamy off-white head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant tropical fruit notes of mango and papaya are layered over citrus zest and subtle pine. A supportive, complex malt base offers scents of toasted biscuit, freshly baked bread, and a hint of nutty caramel.
Taste. The initial impression is hop-forward, featuring vibrant mango and citrus flavors. A solid mid-palate of toasted British malts provides a biscuity depth without cloying sweetness. Inspired by Moor's hoppy West Coast roots, PMA uses Simcoe and Centennial to create a complex American Pale with a firm citrus and pine bitterness.
PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) was popularised in the Bad Brains song Attitude, hence the limited edition label which is a riff on the album artwork. Brewer Justin got the inspiration from finding out about charity Hardcore Hits Cancer, a Spanish based non-profit organisation that helps cancer patients from a mental and financial point of view, at a Berri Txarrak concert and wanted to brew a beer that linked everything together.
So, back in 2015 Moor created PMA. It has been a mainstay in their range ever since, and still with a portion of profits from all sales of PMA going to charity - they’ve since donated almost £20k to Cancer research causes so far. The beer itself has gone through a few iterations but still maintains it's original West Coast roots as a superb and authentic version of a West Coast pale ale.
