Kurt’s Apple Pie is a decadent Fruit and Spice Mead that captures the essence of a traditional holiday dessert. Aromas of baked local apple cider merge seamlessly with the fragrant, woody warmth of Vietnamese cinnamon and the creamy, floral sweetness of Madagascar-bourbon vanilla. On the palate, a rich honey base supports lush orchard fruit flavors, while the spice provides a structured counterpoint to the honey’s natural sweetness. At 14% ABV, it offers a refined warmth and a full-bodied, velvet-like texture, finishing with a lingering, spiced apple character that evokes the nostalgic warmth of a fresh-baked pie.
Appearance. Deep gold to amber (8-15 SRM). Still, with no head, foam, or lacing. Brilliant clarity.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant spicy-sweet Vietnamese cinnamon and creamy, floral Madagascar-bourbon vanilla over a base of fresh and baked local apple cider. Clean, floral honey character with low fruity esters. No hop or malt character.
Taste. Sweet initial impression with intense lush apple fruitiness. Strong woody cinnamon and smooth vanilla bean flavors are supported by a rich, floral honey backbone. Balanced by light acidity from the cider. Finish is long and sweet with a lingering spiced apple and honey aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous. Still carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Very smooth and creamy texture with negligible astringency.
