This Hazy IPA from Monkish showcases a masterclass in hop saturation, driven by a heavy double dry-hop of Nelson Sauvin and Enigma. It pours with a signature opaque glow, leading with a punchy aroma of crushed gooseberries, white wine grapes, and ripe cantaloupe. On the palate, the hop profile deepens into nuanced notes of redcurrants and passionfruit, supported by a soft, grainy malt backbone. The bitterness is purposefully restrained, allowing the vibrant tropical and vinous qualities to shine through a pillowy, medium-full body. It finishes smooth and juice-like, epitomizing the lush, aromatic focus of the style.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (4-6 SRM) with a heavy, opaque haze and a luminous glow. Features a dense, meringue-like white head with exceptional retention and thick, chunky lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by Nelson Sauvin’s white wine, gooseberry, and passionfruit notes, complemented by Enigma’s redcurrant and melon character. Background malt is bready and neutral, while the fermentation provides a clean, lightly ester-driven tropical fruitiness.
Taste. Explosive fruity hop flavor featuring white grape, berry, and tropical citrus. The malt provides a soft, bready foundation without any caramel sweetness. Bitterness is low to medium-low, well-integrated and never harsh. The finish is off-dry and juice-forward with a lingering essence of tropical fruit.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, pillowy body with a soft, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. No astringency or hop burn is present, though a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is detectable.
