Spark The Brain is a decadent Imperial Stout that harmonizes intense roasted malts with luxurious dessert-like additions. This expression features rich Ghana cacao nibs and Madagascar vanilla beans, which weave through a profile of dark chocolate, toasted marshmallow, and espresso. As a high-gravity Imperial Stout, it presents a deep, velvety character where the lactose from the milk stout base provides a silky sweetness, balancing the assertive roasted bitterness. Expect a symphony of dark fruit esters like fig and raisin alongside the prominent, creamy vanilla and earthy cocoa, culminating in a warming, lingering finish that highlights its 12.5% strength without being sharp.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a thick, persistent deep tan head that leaves dense lacing. High viscosity is apparent through visible legs on the glass.

Aroma. Intense and complex. Strong notes of bittersweet chocolate and fudge from the Ghana cacao nibs dominate, supported by the aromatic sweetness of Madagascar vanilla beans. Deep roasted malt character provides coffee and charred grain backdrops. Moderate esters of dried plum and raisin are present. Hop aroma is very low, and the high alcohol is noticeable but smooth and integrated.

Taste. Initial impression is rich and sweet, followed by an explosion of dark chocolate and creamy vanilla. The malt flavor is intense, featuring espresso, black licorice, and toasted bread. Lactose sweetness is present but balanced by a medium-high roasted bitterness. Hop flavor is negligible. The finish is long and bittersweet with a lingering cocoa and vanilla aftertaste. Despite the high gravity, it is not cloying, maintaining a complex harmony of flavors.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a chewy, luscious, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is prominent but not solventy. High creaminess from the milk stout components.
